From Empty Balcony to Home Jungle: Designing a Beautiful Balcony in Dubai
By Malisa
A Dubai balcony does not need to be enormous to feel like a garden.
The difference comes from designing the space as an outdoor room, rather than simply adding plants.
At Baan Paa, we begin with how the balcony should feel and be used. Where does your eye travel when you enter the apartment? Where will you sit in the evening? Which corner deserves a statement piece? And how can greenery soften the architecture without taking away the view?
Often, one beautifully chosen mature plant can transform the entire space. A characterful olive tree can introduce Mediterranean calm, while palms and layered foliage create a more tropical Home Jungle feeling.
The planters matter too. Scale, texture and proportion can turn plants into part of the architecture, while woven baskets, ceramics, rugs and subtle evening lighting make the space feel warmer and more personal.
Dubai balconies also require thoughtful plant selection. Sun exposure, heat, wind and orientation can differ dramatically—even between apartments in the same building.
The aim is therefore not to fill every available space.
It is to create the right moments in the right places.
Because a beautifully designed balcony should give you more than greenery.
It should give you a reason to step outside.
